I installed Chimely and it never chimes. Is it broken?
Almost certainly not. Quarter-hour chimes are off on a fresh install — turn them on at Settings › Chimes › Chimes enabled. If they are already on, check silent mode, your schedule window, then work through the checklist.
Why does it say Makkah? That is not where I live.
Makkah is the starting location so prayer times are sensible before you have told Chimely anything. Change it with the crosshair icon on the clock, or at Settings › Prayer › Location. See Set your location.
Does Chimely need an internet connection?
No. Prayer times, the Qibla bearing, the calendar and every chime are computed on your phone. The only component that uses the network is the banner advert. Turn on aeroplane mode and everything still works.
Chimely’s prayer times differ from my masjid by a few minutes.
Set the calculation method your masjid uses, and check the Asr madhab if Asr in particular is out. Many masjids also round their printed timetable to the next whole minute or add a safety margin, so a one- or two-minute gap is normal and expected.
Can Chimely remind me at iqamah time as well?
Not as a built-in feature — Chimely alerts at the calculated prayer time itself. You can get close by creating a repeating alarm at your masjid’s iqamah time and labelling it.
Do I have to get the Qibla arrow to gold?
No. Green is a correct answer. A masjid’s own orientation commonly differs from the computed great-circle bearing by 10–20°, and phone compasses are only accurate to about ±5–15° anyway. Full explanation in Gold and green.
Can I limit how many times an alarm can be snoozed?
There is no snooze cap. To make an alarm harder to sleep through, use a short Ring duration, a wake-up puzzle, or the Big Buttons alert screen so you at least have to look at it.
My widget is showing the wrong time.
It has frozen at the last moment your phone let Chimely draw. Turn on Keep widget time live when asleep, and grant the battery permissions in Troubleshooting — the same battery manager causes both stale widgets and missed chimes.
Can I export or print the prayer calendar?
Not currently — the month timetable is a browse-only view.
Will my settings survive a reboot or an update?
Yes. Everything is stored on your device, and Chimely re-arms its whole schedule automatically after a restart or an app update. Uninstalling, however, deletes it all — there is no cloud backup and no account.
Why are there ads, and can I remove them?
Chimely is free, and a single banner advert covers its costs. It is also the only place any data leaves your device — see the privacy policy. An ad-free unlock is available; get in touch and ask.
How do I check I am on the latest version?
Settings › ⋮ › About Chimely › Check for updates opens Chimely’s Google Play listing.
